Norway’s King Harald rushed to hospital due to urgent health update Royal | news
The Norwegian Royal Court has confirmed that King Harald, 89, has been taken to hospital due to dehydration and infection. A spokesperson for the royal family confirmed that the king was being treated for infection and dehydration.
A statement issued by the Royal House of Norway said, “His Majesty the King (Harald V) was admitted to the Hospital Universitario Hospitan Sur in Tenerife this evening.
“The King is being treated for infection and dehydration and is in good condition under the circumstances.”
The royals confirmed that their personal physician will travel to Tenerife to assist the local health service and confirmed that an update will be provided after the physician has “assessed the situation”.
Norway’s King Harald and Queen Sonja were enjoying a private stay on the Spanish island for the winter break.
He has reigned since 1991, succeeding his equally popular father, King Olav V, who was voted Norwegian of the Century in 1999.
He recently turned 89, and on the occasion, he posed for a photo of himself with his heir, Crown Prince Haakon, and his eldest child and second in line to the throne, Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
