Girija Oak reveals she owns over 400 sarees, ‘This saree is worth a few kidneys’

‘National crush’ Girija Oak has once again captured the internet’s attention with her stunning saree collection while currently winning praise for her performance in the web show Perfect Family. A photograph of the actress wearing a blue saree paired with a sleek white blouse recently went viral, and fans are applauding her gracefulness.

traditional style. In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Girija opened up about her love for sarees and revealed that she owns more than 400 pieces.

Girija Oak’s blue saree look has gone viral!

‘It is a hand-painted chiffon saree.’

Girija showcased some of her most cherished sarees, including heirlooms passed down from her mother and grandmothers. She shared that she has sourced sarees from across India, often purchasing directly from weavers or through people who buy exclusively from artisans.

She began the tour with her grandmother’s vintage saree from the 1960s–70s, saying, “It is a hand-painted chiffon saree.” The creamy-coloured piece exuded old-world elegance.

‘This saree is worth a few kidneys.’

Girija then revealed the most expensive saree in her wardrobe — a Banarasi Jamawar from Raw Mango. Calling it her prized possession, she said, “This is my favourite saree. This saree is truly exquisite. This saree is worth a few kidneys.

The price of this saree is between one lakh and more. I only have one Raw Mango saree; I can’t afford more sarees from them. But it is a very pretty colour.” Discussing sarees as long-term investments, Girija added, “If you keep them maintained nicely, their life is forever. A saree can fit any size; it is very versatile.” Girija went on to present several other pieces from her collection—leheriya sarees, block-printed designs, kalamkari drapes, and a classic Maharashtrian Paithani.

Among the highlights was a pure georgette leheriya saree that arrived in a compact box. “This is a pure georgette leheriya saree that came in a tiny box. I bought it from Gujarat,” she explained. She also showed a saree that she had block-printed herself and admitted that it was a challenging process.

“It is uneven because I have blockprinted it myself, but it is special.” Another standout was a quirky Audrey Hepburn–print saree, which immediately drew attention for its unique visual charm.

IndiGo cancellations: How to track flight & refund status online; step-by-step guide

The airline recorded the largest number of flight cancellations by an Indian carrier in the nation’s aviation history. (ANI photo)

IndiGo flight cancellations latest news: IndiGo has said that it expects to operate more than 1500 flights by day’s end on Saturday, having restored over 95% of network connectivity by serving 135 out of 138 operational destinations.

IndiGo typically operates 2300 flights daily. IndiGo has said that its personnel are working to normalise operations, minimise flight delays, and assist passengers during this challenging period. IndiGo operated merely 700 flights on Friday, indicating 1,600 flight cancellations.

IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers acknowledged the extensive cancellations, confirming “over 1,000 flights” were cancelled on Friday.

Aviation Meltdown Escalates As IndiGo Cancels 400 Flights And Government Enforces Fare Controls

IndiGo recorded the highest number of flight cancellations by an Indian carrier in the nation’s aviation history. Additionally, IndiGo’s on-time performance plummeted to 3.7 per cent on Friday due to operational disruptions caused by the implementation of new pilot duty and rest period regulations, according to the Civil Aviation Ministry website.

Starting November 1, the second phase of these regulations redefined night hours from 12am to 6am, altered from the previous 12am to 5am, and reduced permitted night landings from six to two. These changes affect all domestic airlines in India. The Gurugram-based carrier IndiGo, partly owned by Rahul Bhatia, has obtained temporary relief from DGCA.

allowing them to revert to the previous night duty definition of 12am to 5am and permitting pilots to perform six night landings. “ Addressing the recent disruptions in our network, we had cancelled a significant number of flights and operated a little above 700 flights yesterday, connecting 113 destinations.

The main objective was to reboot the network, systems, and rosters so that we could start afresh today with more flights and improved stability, and there are some early signs of improvement. Despite acknowledging the challenges ahead, we remain dedicated to restoring our customers’ trust. We apologise once again,” the airline said in a statement today.

How to Track IndiGo Flight Status?

If you are planning to fly on an IndiGo flight over the coming days, it is important to check the flight status before heading to the airport.

Here is a step-by-step guide to check IndiGo flight status: 1. Go to goindigo.in/check-flight-status.html 2. Enter your PNR details and travel date, click on ‘Search Flight’ to get the latest flight status

How to Track IndiGo Refund Status?

The airline issued a statement confirming that it is handling all passenger refund requests with urgency. Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can track your refund status on the IndiGo website: 1. Go to goindigo.in/refund.html

2. Enter PNR details—insert your PNR or booking reference number and your email ID or last name. 3. Click to view the “Refund Summary.”.

This will show you the current status of your refund — whether it’s still processing, completed, etc. According to the civil aviation ministry’s directive, all refunds for cancelled or disrupted flights must be processed by 8 pm on Sunday.

The ministry has said, “Airlines have also been instructed not to levy any rescheduling charges for passengers whose travel plans were affected by cancellations.” The ministry has directed IndiGo to establish dedicated units for passenger assistance and refund processing.

statement noted, “These cells have been tasked to contact affected passengers proactively and ensure that refunds and alternative travel arrangements are processed without the need for multiple follow-ups.

The system of automatic refunds will remain active until operations stabilise completely.” Additionally, the ministry has mandated that the airline must locate and return any misplaced luggage resulting from flight cancellations or delays to passengers within 48 hours.

Airfares capped

The aviation ministry has issued a two-page directive implementing fare restrictions due to capacity limitations and unjustified price increases across various routes. The civil aviation ministry’s order clarifies that business class and UDAN flights are exempt from these fare restrictions. The directive lacks specificity regarding the application of these limits to economy class tickets exclusively or their extension to premium economy seats as well.

The prescribed fare structure sets maximum limits of Rs 7,500 for flights covering distances up to 500 km, Rs 12,000 for 500–1,000 km, Rs 15,000 for 1,000–1,500 km, and Rs 18,000 for flights exceeding 1,500 km.

For illustration, on the Delhi-Mumbai route, spanning over 1,300 kilometres, economy- class fares cannot exceed Rs 18,000. The minister’s statement indicates these restrictions will remain effective until conditions normalise. These caps exclude additional costs such as the User Development Fee (UDF), Passenger Service Fee (PSF), and air ticket taxes.

How MyFitnessPal Can Support Your GLP-1 Journey

0

If you’re taking a GLP-1 medication like Ozempic or Wegovy, you’re definitely not alone.

And though these can help many people lose weight, they aren’t always a magic cure.

So, it’s important to develop healthy habits for effective weight management and long-term health.

A balanced diet provides essential nutrients and helps prevent chronic diseases.

Also, GLP-1s have not been shown to be used long-term. Some data shows that most patients stop taking GLP-1s after a year or two. Stopping them, especially without lifestyle changes, can cause weight regain (1).

Additionally, GLP-1s are relatively new. There’s limited research on the best dietary guidance for those taking GLP-1s and whether they are safe for long-term use (2). While using GLP-1s, good nutrition and lifestyle choices might also help reduce some side effects, such as:

  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Appetite suppression, which often leads to under-eating
  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • Muscle loss.

However, diet and lifestyle changes might not address other common or rare but serious side effects. It’s always best to consult your doctor about any concerns regarding GLP-1s.

Here are some practical tips on how to use MyFitnessPal to support your GLP-1 journey.

How to Use MyFitnessPal to Support Your GLP-1 Journey

Tracking Calories

Eating fewer calories is an essential part of most weight loss plans.

Calorie restriction can be the hardest part of weight management. It usually makes us feel hungrier, especially at first.

But one way that taking GLP-1s aids weight loss is by suppressing appetite and reducing food cravings (2, 3).

So, instead of often feeling hungry or thinking about food, you might forget to eat enough or get full too quickly when you do.

This may sound appealing to anyone who struggles with frequent thoughts about food. But meeting your body’s minimum calorie needs is essential (4). This ensures your body gets all the nutrients it needs to maintain energy levels and function properly (5).

Generally, women’s calorie intake shouldn’t drop below 1,200 per day, and men’s shouldn’t go under 1,500, except for specific reasons and as supervised by a health professional (6).

Consuming less than this amount could affect your health.

Not meeting your minimum calorie needs can cause nutrient deficiencies (7). This includes micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) and other essential nutrients.

This in turn can cause fatigue, weakened immune function, and overall impaired health (8, 9).

So, it’s important for people on GLP-1 meds to watch their calorie and nutrient intake.

One of the best ways to do this is by keeping a food journal.

Using a tool like MyFitnessPal to log meals can simplify this. It lets you quickly spot any calorie or nutrient deficits. You can then adjust your diet.

Nutrient-dense foods are some of the best foods for people taking GLP-1s. Seafood, tofu, dates, and other nutrient-dense ingredients can help you get the most nutrition out of smaller meals.

Tracking Protein

Protein helps you feel full, keeps hormones and enzymes in check, supports your body’s functions, and balances fluids and electrolytes (10, 11).

Eating enough protein also ensures the body has the building blocks it needs for muscle tissue repair and maintenance (11).

This is essential for active people and those who want to preserve muscle while losing weight.

It may be especially important when taking GLP-1s. Some studies suggest that up to 50% of the weight lost on a GLP-1 may be lean muscle mass, not body fat (12).

A loss of muscle mass can cause long-term problems, such as:

  • Increased risk of injury (13)
  • Loss of strength (13)
  • Reduced mobility (13)
  • Slowed metabolism (14)
  • Poorer heart health (15)
  • Increased insulin resistance (16)
  • Reduced longevity (17)

For anyone on GLP-1 medications, getting enough protein might help maintain muscle health.

MyFitnessPal makes it easy to track your daily protein intake.

Protein needs during weight loss are personal. Current recommendations for individuals losing weight on GLP-1 are 1.2-1.6 grams per kilogram of body weight, or an absolute target of 80-120 g per day.  This higher amount of protein may be better than the typical lower daily intake of 60 grams or 0.8 grams per kilogram (18).

This higher amount of protein may be better than the typical lower daily intake of 60 grams or 0.8 grams per kilogram (18).

A good rule of thumb could be to aim for three meals a day, each containing about 20 to 30 grams of protein.

If you struggle with appetite, try consuming small amounts of high-protein foods throughout the day instead of eating large amounts at every meal (19).

Keeping track of how much protein you eat also helps you plan balanced meals with the right mix of carbs, fats, and proteins for continued weight loss success.

Tracking Exercise

Of course, when talking about muscle maintenance during weight loss, we can’t leave out exercise.

A workout routine, especially strength training, may be important for people who take GLP-1s. It might help them maintain a healthy weight after stopping treatment (20).

You can log your exercises within the MyFitnessPal app or sync with other fitness apps and devices, like Fitbit, Garmin, or Apple Health, to easily track your activities and progress.

Tracking Fiber

Studies have shown that fibre, particularly soluble fibre, slows down how fast your stomach empties and makes you feel fuller, controlling your appetite (21).

Fibre can also help make your stools more regular and consistent (22).

GLP-1 medications have been shown to cause gastrointestinal side effects, like constipation and diarrhoea (23).

Adding fiber-rich foods to your meals may help reduce these side effects and support your digestive health (22, 24).

Many people fall short of their fibre needs. Using tracking apps like MyFitnessPal can increase awareness of their intake.

By logging foods, you can identify the best options for creating fibre-rich meals and incorporate them into your weekly routine.

Generally, for diarrhoea or constipation, you’ll want to increase your soluble fibre intake [25].

Good sources of soluble fibre include:

  • Ground flax seeds
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Avocados
  • Black beans
  • Rolled oats

If you’re only dealing with constipation, you can also add more insoluble fibre by eating whole fruits and vegetables with skins.

But everyone should include a mix of both soluble and insoluble fibre in their diet (26).

Fibre recommendations are usually around 35 grams per day for healthy adults, but some research suggests closer to 50 grams a day might be ideal (27).

Refer to this fibre quiz from MyFitnessPal to see if you’re getting enough fibre in your diet!

If you’re starting from a low-fibre diet, increase your fibre intake gradually (28). Also, hydrate to avoid discomfort or digestive issues.

You can adjust your daily fibre goals in the MyFitnessPal app based on your needs.

Tracking Hydration

Nausea and vomiting can be common side effects of GLP-1 medications.

In fact, vomiting has been shown to happen in about 5 to 20% of people taking GLP-1s (29). But for many, these symptoms usually go away within 1 to 8 days (29).

But if vomiting is severe or doesn’t stop, it could be serious, so it’s important to visit your doctor or get emergency help.

Both vomiting and diarrhoea from GLP-1 medication can lead to dehydration.

Even if you don’t have these symptoms, changes in your eating habits and appetite can make you drink less during meals. This can raise your risk of dehydration.

Dehydration can be dangerous and worsen medication side effects, especially constipation, as fluid is essential for digestion.

So, maintain proper hydration levels while taking GLP-1s to minimise the unwanted effects.

Staying hydrated also supports energy levels, metabolism, and a healthy weight (30). It’s a good habit to stick with for overall wellness (31).

Enter MyFitnessPal’s hydration tracking feature.

You can easily log your fluid intake, providing an effective way to set and achieve daily hydration goals.

Many unsweetened liquids are excellent options to meet your daily fluid needs, including:

  • Plain water
  • Seltzer water
  • Coconut water
  • Low-fat milk or plant milk
  • Coffee and tea (in regular amounts)
  • Low-sodium broth-based soups

Most people should aim for about a half-ounce to an ounce of fluid per pound of body weight daily (32). If you exercise regularly or live in a warm climate, you’ll need the higher end.

Adjust your hydration goals in the MyFitnessPal app based on your needs and activity levels.

Other helpful features

MyFitnessPal also has other helpful features to help people on GLP-1s with their diet and lifestyle goals:

  • Meal timestamps can help ensure you’re eating consistently throughout the day, helping you hit your calorie, micronutrient, and protein goals.
  • Logging reminders can provide gentle nudges, helping you stay on track with these goals and enhance your accountability.
  • In-app recipes focus on high-protein and GLP-1-friendly options, inspiring you to explore varied and balanced meals through recipe discovery.
  • Tracking your weight and other body measurements in the app can help you monitor progress and stay motivated.

These features can help you adopt healthy diet and lifestyle habits while on GLP-1 medications, promoting your long-term success.

'Dhurandhar' box office collection Day 1 (LIVE): Ranveer Singh starrer off to good start; Aditya Dhar directorial hits Rs 14 crore mark in advance ticket sales

‘Dhurandhar’, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, has finally debuted on the big screen today. After months of waiting, fans wasted no time rushing to theatres to catch the first day’s show and tweeting all about it. Amid all the hype and drama surrounding the film, trade reports state that the film may just open to an average response at the box office. However, this was just by taking into consideration the film’s advance bookings, which are estimated to be between Rs 15-20 crore net. Now, as per the latest reports online, the film seems to be picking up its pace at the box office, with trade reports showing a spike in numbers. As per Sacnilk, the early shows have already collected around Rs 66 lakh, with numbers expected to rise further during the day. As per the latest reports, the film has sold over 2.55 lakh tickets across 14,549 shows in 2D format, playing at the national theatre chains. The IMAX 2D formats playing at top theatre chains in the country have reported a collection of Rs 45.22 lakh for around 123 shows. The current data estimates that the film’s total advance collections now stand at an estimated Rs 9.23 crore from the sale of 2.62 lakh tickets sold across 14K shows in the country. It must be noted that these numbers are without blocked seats.

Taking into account the blocked seats, the total advance booking collection has risen to an estimated Rs 14 crore. State-wise, Maharashtra continues to lead with the highest collection of Rs 3.02 crore in advance earnings with blocked seats.

Delhi follows closely with Rs 2.98 crore. Karnataka and Gujarat follow with collections of Rs 1.41 crore and Rs 1.01 crore, respectively. Uttar Pradesh rounds up the top five with an advance collection of Rs 79.39 lakh. Trade projections suggest that ‘Dhurandhar’ is likely to open in the Rs 15 crore to Rs 20 crore range on Friday.

With a reported budget of Rs 250 crore, ‘Dhurandhar’, a large-scale action entertainer, will face significant challenges before achieving box office success. To attain these numbers, the film would rely heavily on word-of-mouth to drive weekend growth and keep the footfall consistent all through the working week.

Without a holiday to support it, the film will rely heavily on positive buzz and quality content to sustain its success at the box office. The current trend puts the film on par with the Dhanush and Kriti Sanon romantic drama, ‘Tere Ishk Mein’, which opened to similar numbers at the box office last week. However,

The film will have only 2 weeks to enjoy its run at the box office before it faces added competition at the ticket windows with the release of the Hollywood film ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’. The James Cameron film is already tracking a blockbuster opening in the country, considering that it is a part of a franchise release and already commands a huge fan base.

Stock market today: Nifty50 and BSE Sensex, the Indian equity benchmark indices, opened flat in trade ahead of the RBI policy. While Nifty50 was above 26,000, BSE Sensex was around 85,250. At 9:18 AM, Nifty50 was trading at 26,037.90, up 4 points or 0.016%. BSE Sensex was at 85,243.19, down 22 points or 0.026%. Nifty managed a slight uptick on Thursday, breaking a four-day declining streak.

Though the upside remained limited due to continued foreign investor outflows and the rupee touching historic lows, Experts anticipate a period of sideways movement. Dr VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited, says, “Today the market focus will be on the monetary policy.

More important than the rate action, which is very tricky in the context of low inflation, high growth and a depreciating rupee, the market will be keen to know what the governor says about the emerging macro trends.

RBI’s action on the liquidity front will be keenly watched. If there is a rate cut, that will be the last cut in this rate-cutting cycle. A rate cut in the present context will be negative for banks since it will impact their NIM and ability to mobilise deposits. On the contrary, a rate cut will be positive for rate-sensitive products like autos and real estate. If there is no rate cut, banking stocks will rally.

The Rupee’s sharp recovery yesterday, rising to 89.97 from a low of 90.42, signals some level of stability in the currency market. The RBI governor’s views on the rupee today will significantly influence the near-term direction of the currency.”

US stocks finished largely flat on Thursday as investors assessed labour market reports and additional economic indicators, whilst market sentiment remained buoyed by expectations of a Federal Reserve rate reduction next week. Regional Asian shares declined in early deals following an uninspiring US session that impacted technology shares and bonds, as attention shifted to upcoming US inflation figures on Friday. WTI oil prices approached weekly gains of nearly 2% during early Friday trading.

The rise was supported by anticipated Federal Reserve interest rate reductions, heightening US-Venezuela tensions and halting peace negotiations in Moscow. Gold prices maintained stability on Friday, with increasing US Treasury yields counteracting benefits from a weakening dollar. Markets awaited US inflation data later in the day to understand the Federal Reserve’s policy direction before next week’s meeting.

Foreign portfolio investors sold shares worth Rs 1,944 crore net on Thursday. Meanwhile, DIIs were net purchasers at Rs 3,661 crore. Cloudflare goes down again; CTO Dane Knecht confirms outage but clarifies: Not an ...

Cloudflare is down again, temporarily impacting hundreds of websites, including Canva, Zoom and Claude, among various others, which were unreachable on Friday (December 5).

Cloudflare CTO Dane Knecht confirmed the technical problems, saying that the company is working on a fix and the websites should soon be coming back online. He also shared the “root cause” of what led to the worldwide outage. The internet infrastructure provider deployed corrective measures.

Root Cause: Disabling logging features

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Knecht said, “We are aware of the issue impacting the availability of Cloudflare’s network. This was not an attack; the root cause was the disabling of certain logging features to help mitigate the issue.

this week’s React CVE.” “Will share full details in a blog post today. “Sites should be back online now, but I understand the frustration this causes and the work being done,” he added. He previously posted that the company is “closely tracking the React RSC vulnerability.” If you deploy on Cloudflare Workers, you are protected.

The Workers security model prevents this exploit at the runtime layer. For users that rely on WAF to protect self-hosted applications, more variants of this exploit are already surfacing and we are evaluating each one. As always, the best way to stay protected is to upgrade to the patched versions of React and Next.js as soon as possible.”

he added. Later, the company rolled out “additional mitigations” to protect more customers. Meanwhile, the company posted on its status page that a fix has been resolved, the services are back online, and the team is monitoring the situation. “Cloudflare services are currently operating normally.

We are no longer observing elevated errors or latency across the network. Our engineering teams continue to closely monitor the platform and perform a deeper investigation into the earlier disruption, but no configuration changes are being made at this time,” the company said (at the time of writing). “

At this point, it is considered safe to re-enable any Cloudflare services that were temporarily disabled during the incident. We will provide a final update once our investigation is complete,” the company added.

Second Cloudflare outage in a month

The current episode is the second such outage in a month’s time. Previously, on November 18, Cloudflare went down for hours, impacting major websites worldwide. At that time,

The CTO said, “A latent bug in a service underpinning our bot mitigation capability started to crash after a routine configuration change we made.

That cascaded into a broad degradation to our network and other services. This was not an attack.” Knecht stressed that the extent of the issue and the time required for resolution were “unacceptable”.

Chinese hardware giant takes the US government agency to court and says, ‘Not threat to your national security’

Chinese hardware giant takes the US government agency to court; says: Not threat to your national security

One of the biggest Chinese companies, Hikvision, is taking America’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to court. Chinese surveillance equipment manufacturer Hikvision announced that its US subsidiary has filed a legal challenge against a new FCC rule, escalating the ongoing dispute between Washington and Chinese technology companies over national security concerns. Hikvision stated it has filed a petition seeking judicial review of the FCC’s recent decision.

The company argues that the commission exceeded its statutory authority and “seeks to retroactively curtail lawful authorisations without a sufficient legal or evidentiary basis.” Hikvision, best known for its video surveillance and security camera systems, also sells network transmission equipment and accessories.

The legal action targets recent regulatory moves that allow US government agencies to tighten restrictions on telecommunications equipment manufactured by Chinese companies deemed to pose security risks.

“Our legal action seeks to protect our established market rights and the lawful interests of our customers and partners and to support a stable, transparent and predictable regulatory environment for all law-abiding businesses,” Hikvision said in a statement.

Dispute over “Covered List”

The dispute centres on the FCC’s “Covered List”, a designation for companies considered a threat to U.S. national security. The list effectively bars the FCC from authorising the import or sale of new equipment from named firms.

Hikvision, along with other major Chinese entities such as Huawei, ZTE, China Mobile, and China Telecom, has previously been placed on this list. This filing follows a series of regulatory crackdowns. In February, a U.S. appeals court rejected a separate bid by Hikvision to lift a 2022 FCC ban on approvals for its new video surveillance and telecommunications equipment. The regulatory pressure has extended beyond legal filings to the retail market. In October,

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr announced that major American retail websites had removed several million listings for prohibited Chinese electronics. These items, which included home security cameras and smartwatches from Hikvision, Huawei, ZTE, and Dahua Technology, were removed for being on the Covered List or lacking agency authorisation.

The lawsuit coincides with the ongoing expansion of American government restrictions on Chinese tech infrastructure. On October 15, the FCC announced it was moving to revoke the operating authorization of HKT.

a leading Hong Kong telecom carrier and subsidiary of PCCW, citing national security concerns. Additionally, the FCC has recently moved to withdraw recognition from equipment test labs owned or controlled by Chinese entities, further tightening the compliance bottleneck for Chinese manufacturers attempting to enter or remain in the US market.

UK households urged to put salt on their window ledges this week

UK households urged to put salt on their window ledges this week

As the weather gets colder, an expert is urging homeowners to use simple household items on their windows to prevent condensation and mould from forming.

Salt and vinegar shakers

Salt and vinegar could come in handy away from the kitchen this winter

Households throughout Britain are being advised to deploy salt and vinegar on their windows as temperatures drop. With the condensation season now upon us, specialists are encouraging property owners to maintain their windows to avoid creating ideal conditions for dangerous black mould.

They suggest that basic kitchen staples like salt and vinegar might be sufficient to halt mould development. Mould can begin flourishing indoors just 24 hours following moisture exposure, making swift action essential as cold weather descends this week.

Martin Wong, co-founder of Bringnox Blinds, explained, “Most people wipe away condensation and move on, but that moisture keeps coming back. During colder months, the warm, humid air inside our homes meets cold window surfaces, and that’s when condensation settles. It often grows around frames, creating the perfect environment for mould to thrive unnoticed.”

Martin recommends these two natural methods to combat window condensation and mould:

  • Position a dish of salt on your window ledge: salt has natural moisture-absorbing properties, drawing dampness from the surrounding atmosphere. A modest bowl positioned near each window should suffice for most properties, reports Plymouth Live. You’ll recognise when a replacement is needed, as the salt will look wet and begin forming lumps, usually within several days.
  • Polish windows using a vinegar solution – craft your own eco-friendly window cleaner by mixing a splash of vinegar with water in a spray bottle. Vinegar acts as a natural mould destroyer, with its acetic acid content eliminating more than 80% of common household mould varieties. Apply the mixture lightly to areas where mould is present and allow it to work for a minimum of one hour before thoroughly cleaning the surface.

Martin explained: “These simple, chemical-free solutions tackle the moisture before it becomes a mould problem. Prevention is far easier than dealing with the health risks and property damage that come with established mould growth. Investing in insulated window curtains or blinds is one of the best long-term solutions.

“They create a thermal barrier that keeps warm air inside your living space. By maintaining a consistent temperature near your windows, you reduce that moisture build-up that usually causes condensation.”

The cost is Rs 70,000 for a flight to Bengaluru, but only Rs 25,000 for a flight to London. Airfares explode amid massive IndiGo crisis; flyers rush for options

The cost is Rs 70,000 for a flight to Bengaluru, but only Rs 25,000 for a flight to London. Airfares explode amid massive IndiGo crisis; flyers rush for options
Rs 70k to Bengaluru but Rs 25k to London: Airfares explode amid massive IndiGo crisis; flyers rush for options

Skip Bengaluru. Take a trip to Thailand instead. Or Vietnam. Or London. Singapore could also be a viable option. All at a much, much, much cheaper rate than Delhi to Bengaluru, Goa, Pune or Goa. But you cannot travel to Hyderabad, at least not on Friday.

because the tickets are sold out. Ironically, IndiGo flight tickets are available. The situation arose amid IndiGo’s massive operational chaos, which has led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights and widespread distress for travellers at airports nationwide. On Friday, the airlines cancelled all departures from Delhi until midnight.

According to the DGCA, IndiGo acknowledged that it had severely miscalculated the number of pilots needed to operate its existing schedule under the new crew duty regulations.

The flight ticket fares on Friday for Bengaluru, Pune, Lucknow and Goa, which usually range from 10k to 15k, depending upon the demand and the festival factors, stood at an average of 25k to 30k.

Does a Delhi-Bengaluru ticket cost 70k?

A travel portal recently showed the fastest December 5 Delhi connection on Air India at around Rs 70,000 before it sold out; even after the price dipped to roughly Rs 32,000,

It remained far above the usual Rs 10,000–15,000 range for that sector. And it’s just a one-way fare. The trend across domestic routes showed that the quickest Delhi–Goa Air India option was priced above Rs 56,000, Delhi–Pune fares ranged between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000, and Delhi–Lucknow tickets exceeded Rs 20,000 on Air.

India Express, with IndiGo selling seats between Rs 9,000 and Rs 17,000. In sharp contrast, international routes appeared far more affordable. Delhi–London fares on Air India began just above Rs 25,000, while Lufthansa and Swiss were priced below Rs 70,000.

Taking aim at the situation, Rocky Singh, a social media user, recommended travelling to Tokyo or New York instead of Bengaluru due to the current fare situation. Are you planning to travel to Bengaluru from Delhi using Air India?

“DON’T go to New York or London or Tokyo instead… It’s cheaper,” he said. From Delhi to Thailand, Thai Lion Air offered tickets under Rs 10,000, SpiceJet stayed below Rs 15,000, and Air India remained under Rs 25,000. Delhi–Vietnam fares were under Rs 15,000 on Air India and around Rs 25,000 on Thai AirAsia X. “If you get food poisoning, I will kill my grandmother,” said Vijaya Srivastava, a 25-year-old news writer.

when asked about going to Thailand, given the fares for the day. Even Delhi–Singapore flights were cheaper, with Thai Lion Air under Rs 20,000, Batik Air around Rs 20,000, and Air India at about Rs 30,000. A flyer expressed concern over the situation over the “Jodhpur to Bangalore Air India flight for 1 lakh rupees”. “This is so unfair of airlines taking advantage of the current situation,” Ankita said in a post on X.

Is IndiGo too nonchalant about it?

While the chaos has been caused by IndiGo itself, the flyers cited lax management mechanisms on the part of the airlines. “Flight radar was a more credible source to find the flight status than the website itself,” said a flyer from Delhi, who faced a 7-8 hour delay for the Bengaluru flight. Describing the 5am chaos,

He said that “every departure gate was crowded with angry passengers who had been waiting from 6 to 8 hours.” There’s no option to cancel, as the ticket fares are 3-4 times higher, so people just prefer to wait,” he said. Another flyer from Ranchi noted ill management of takeoffs and landings, saying, “Passengers had to wait for two hours inside the flight at Delhi airport as the bay area not empty.” As tempers flared and some travellers began confronting the crew, the pilot said, ‘We are just as helpless as you are.”

he said. “I can park the aircraft and offload only when we receive permission’,” the flyer recalled. “Indigo (@IndiGo6E)’s website has no mention whatever of the chaos and still allows you to book, even for tomorrow between Bengaluru and Hyderabad (which I picked as two of the worst-hit airports). Shouldn’t they be prioritising moving stranded passengers across the country?” a user named Rahul Siddharthan said on X. “And Indigo is still selling tickets with giant margins.

Hyd-Blore tickets normally cost Rs. 3000/- to Rs. 4000/- and are being sold on their app for Rs. 11,000/- plus. Even though they know their flights are being cancelled. This is called “Make Hay While the Sun Shines,” another user, posting the screenshot, said.

‘Monopoly’ concerns spark row

Leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi flagged the “govt’s monopoly model”, saying that “it’s ordinary Indians who pay the price – in delays, cancellations and helplessness.” He called for a “fair competition in every sector, not match-fixing monopolies.

“” IndiGo fiasco is the cost of this government’s monopoly model. Once again, it’s ordinary Indians who pay the price – in delays, cancellations and helplessness. India deserves fair competition in every sector, not match-fixing monopolies,” he said. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi took on the government, calling out to “shut down the civil aviation ministry”. “I have submitted a call for attention.

I was hoping that the civil aviation minister would provide information in Parliament yesterday, but unfortunately, that did not occur. He held a meeting late in the night and issued some directives.

But what is the point of directives if so many flights are still being cancelled? If you are not responsible for rising airfares and passenger grievances, then shut down the Civil Aviation Ministry,” she said.
