Ruben Amorim has already lined up a move to Man United after signing a two-year deal.

Manchester United are looking to sell Manuel Ugarte this summer and there could be a reunion for the Uruguayan.

AC Milan are considering a move to save Manuel Ugarte from a Manchester United trial. United are desperate to sell Ugarte to the highest bidder this summer, while Italian heavyweights Milan are considering a deal to bring back the Uruguayan midfielder alongside Ruben Amorim.

United signed Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024 in a £42m transfer. However, the midfielder has struggled to establish himself with the English club. He has started just 30 league matches in two seasons and lost his place in the team when Kobi Mino regained his spot during the second half of last season.

And Michael Carrick has informed Ugarte that he is not involved in his future plans. United have brought in Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta and are ready to submit a bid for West Ham’s Matisse Fernandes.

Ugarte admits he has no prospects at Old Trafford and has asked his agent Jorge Mendes to secure him a new club. Mendes has now opened talks with Milan over a possible transfer.

Amorim, who has been appointed as Milan’s new head coach, previously managed Ugarte during his successful spell at Sporting and later during his disappointing time at Old Trafford. Ugarte faced high expectations, especially after Amorim’s appointment, but he never lived up to his price tag.

Speaking two months before his sacking as United manager, Amorim admitted he was working hard with Ugarte to help him regain his best form. He said, “You can feel many talented players come in here, and sometimes they struggle. He’s struggling currently, but it’s our job to help him, and I feel good about helping him when he’s on the pitch.

“But it’s a different world. It needs to be adapted, and it needs to be improved, especially in training.”

United are hoping to recoup a substantial portion of the fee they spent on Ugarte – and are demanding around £30m.

Milan CEO Giorgio Farlani disagreed with the assessment, but additional talks have been scheduled in an attempt to find middle ground.

A strong World Cup campaign could help United’s position, with Ugarte starting Uruguay’s opener as he was sidelined by Saudi Arabia.

They meet Cape Verde on Sunday before completing the group stage against Spain on June 27.
