Every parent’s worst nightmare came true when this mom sent her daughter off to school on a morning like any other.

Khimberly Zavaleta, 12, has tragically died after being brutally attacked with a metal water bottle at the hands of school bullies, her family claims.

Her relatives were aware of the serious bullying situation going on at the school, but they never imagined that it would lead to the death of their young daughter. Khimberly was not the original focus of the alleged bullying, but when she bravely stepped forward to defend her sister in the school corridor, she was hit over the head with a bottle, relatives say.

The young California schoolgirl was taken to hospital after an altercation with a group of students on February 17 but was later released.

However, a few days later Khimberly was again taken to the hospital with what his family described as “a catastrophic medical emergency”. Her uncle later clarified that she suffered a stroke after suffering headaches for several days following the attack.

“Major blood vessels in his brain burst, and he was taken to UCLA Children’s Hospital, [and] the apostle has been placed in an induced coma,” a family fundraiser wrote. The girl’s mother, Elma Chupica, said her daughter was taken to several hospitals and the family agreed that Khimberly would undergo a six-hour surgery to remove blood that had pooled around her brain. law and crime report.

However, the decision was made too late. His mother, Elma Chuquipa, told KABC: “We met with our family…When we met with our family, we agreed to do [brain] surgery, which was a 1% chance, and I said, ‘Hopefully.’ When we met the doctors, they decided not to operate because my daughter was already brain dead.”

At around 3:30 a.m. on February 20, little Khimbri, along with her family, was “heartbroken”, her relatives said.

his mother told KABC. The family was aware that there was a “bullying situation” at the school. She described the attack: “At dismissal, she was in the school hallway when a tall boy approached her. He was pushing her, and my daughter said to him, ‘What do you have to do with me? Let’s go to the principal’s office and talk about it,’ but she ignored him.”

That’s when Khimberly stepped in to protect his sister. Ms Chuquipa added, “My daughter goes and pulls him off so they don’t kill her sister, and then [Khimberly] Head gets hurt. They were killing his sister – my eldest daughter. In the video you can see them pulling [Khimberly]. At one point, he hit her hard on the head, sending her to where she is now – in a mortuary.”

Captured footage of the fight reportedly does not show the bottle being thrown at Khimberly, but a 12-year-old student is now under suspicion for the attack at Reseda Charter High School on Kittridge Street in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles.

The LAPD is investigating the incident as a homicide but said in a statement, “Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and the parties involved being juveniles, at this time, we are not releasing any further information related to the case.”

In a statement released by the Los Angeles Unified School District, they said they are cooperating with the LAPD and said officers are “deeply saddened” by Khimberly’s death.

“The district is committed to providing support to students, staff and families affected by this loss, including counselling services and additional resources on campus,” the statement added. As the report states, “The District takes the safety and well-being of our students very seriously. We are currently cooperating with law enforcement regarding this incident. “Law and crime.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise money for funeral services, as well as medical expenses and time off from work to grieve, and to enable the family to “move out of this district to a safe school for Khimberly’s siblings.”
